| Entry in the herbarium notebook | Why it is pressed | How long it stays pressed |
|---|---|---|
| Name on your label | Labelling you inside the games | Until you uproot the account |
| Inbox on your label | Finding your notebook page when you sign in again | Until you uproot the account |
| Password hash | Verifying your login while your actual password is never stored | Until you uproot the account |
| Sign-up date | Replying to help requests and handling misuse | Until you uproot the account |
The page ends there. Septimus never asks for your real name, your street, your birthday, a phone number or anything to do with payment, for the simple reason that the fernery sells nothing. Your password is pressed flat into a one-way hash and kept only in that form. Lawful basis: performance of a contract (providing the account you requested). Deleting the account uproots the whole entry immediately, using a button on your account page.
| Entry in the herbarium notebook | What it is for in the fernery | How long it stays pressed |
|---|---|---|
| Coins, level, missions and every room’s settings | Picking play back up in the same room | Until the browser’s data is swept out |
| Age confirmation | Saving you the same question at every door | Until the browser’s data is swept out |
| Cookie choice | Keeping hold of your consent answer | Until the browser’s data is swept out |
These details remain on your device; the fernery never receives them.
Choosing “Accept all” wakes the Google Analytics and Google Ads tags, which count visits and see whether an advert of ours ended in play — a first spin, for example. Your IP address, device information and those events then pass to Google. Choosing “Essential only” leaves the tags dormant in consent mode, with no cookies and no advertising identifiers. Lawful basis: consent.
For security, the company that hosts the fernery keeps routine request logs for a short time. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
Under UK GDPR you may see, put right, erase or restrict your data, object to its processing, and take back consent whenever you wish. Removing your account on the account page clears its data at once; sweeping this site’s data out of your browser clears the rest. Complaints can go to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
The fernery’s doors open for adults of 18 and upward. Its games are played with virtual coins that have no monetary value; no one can buy, sell, withdraw or exchange them. Nowhere in these rooms is there a coin stall or a payment page, nobody is handed a prize of real-world value, and success here does not imply future success at real-money gambling.
